K-NET Limited Deploys Vanu Mobile Network Infrastructure to Serve Off-Grid Communities in Liberia and Sierra Leone

Vanu Partners with K-NET Limited to Maximize Coverage in Liberia and Sierra Leone

Lexington, MA, USA and New Delhi, India – March 1, 2024 Vanu, Inc. (“Vanu”) a provider of equipment, tools and services that enable mobile network operators to profit by serving off-grid communities, today announced that its customer K-NET Limited (“K-Net”), a telecommunications solutions company, has deployed mobile network base stations with leading network operators in Liberia and Sierra Leone. K-NET will install and maintain multiple solar-powered base stations that will allow users in previously uncovered areas to access cellular network connectivity and the Internet.

Vanu’s systems are specifically designed to be deployed and operated jointly with local partners in remote locations, using solar power to avoid the high costs, inconvenience, and environmental damage of diesel-powered generators. These low-cost systems are easy to install, commission and maintain, and include a suite of services that can provide a turnkey solution from commercial feasibility and network design through operations, maintenance, and support.

“We chose Vanu technology because elimination of the cost of fueling and maintaining diesel generators and the savings enabled through remote management and maintenance make it a cost-effective solution that is uniquely adapted to meet the needs of rural markets,” said Richard Hlomandor, Founder and Chief Network Architect of K-NET. He added, “The Vanu team has provided support through the integration and deployment process and helped to make it fast and convenient.”

“We appreciate the trust K-NET has placed in us and the opportunity to showcase our technology as part of the ongoing effort to connect the unconnected in rural Liberia, Ghana and Sierra Leone,” said Andrew Beard, CEO of Vanu, Inc. “Vanu is confident that our products and services can help partners like K-NET have a significant positive impact by providing access to voice, messaging and data services from local mobile networks.”
