Chief Executive Officer
Andrew Beard is CEO and Co-Founder of VANU, Inc., a provider of innovative wireless infrastructure solutions. Founded in 1998, Vanu, Inc. pioneered the commercialization of software-defined radio and was the first company to receive FCC certification of a software-defined radio. Prior to serving as CEO, Andrew served as Chief Operating Officer from the inception of the company, with responsibility for oversight of all operations, including sales, engineering, support, finance, production. Andrew also has lead strategy for identifying, protecting and monetizing key intellectual property assets. Andrew helped to incubate and launch ventures such as VANU Rwanda, working with carriers, regulators and investors to define and implement strategies. Prior to joining Vanu, Inc. Mr. Beard practiced law with Foley Hoag LLP where his practice focused on corporate securities and transactional matters for technology-oriented companies. Mr. Beard has the personal distinction of serving on the m-Powering Development Advisory Board for the ITU.
Dr. Judith Bose
Dr. Judith Bose is an independent arts education consultant, specializing in the areas of teaching artist development and the intersection of cultural organizations, schools, teachers and teaching artists. She previously served as the Director of Teacher Education and Educational Initiatives at Longy School of Music of Bard College, where she helped to develop an innovative Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Music degree program, and led Longy’s Teaching Artist Program. In New York, she spent a decade as a Master music teaching artist at the Lincoln Center Institute and the New York Philharmonic, and she has worked with numerous schools and cultural organizations both nationally and internationally.
Judith is the wife of Dr. Vanu Bose and currently serves on the Vanu, Inc. Board in capacities that support her husband’s legacy and his tireless mission to connect the unconnected of the world.
Raymond Paul “Raymie” Stata is currently the founder and CEO of Altiscale, a company that provides Apache Hadoop as a service with “big data in the cloud”. Prior to Altiscale, he was the Chief Technology Officer at Yahoo where he played an instrumental role in algorithmic search, display advertising and cloud computing. Prior to Yahoo, Ramie founded Stata Laboratories maker of the Bloomba search-based e-mail client and the SAProxy anti-spam filter. He previously worked for Digital Equiment Corporation’s Systems Research Center, where he contributed to the AltaVista search engine. He is an alumnus of MIT, where he received bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D degrees in Computer Science and Engineering.
Mr. West was most recently a Strategic Advisor to Clearwire and President of Clearwire International. Prior to joining Clearwire, Mr. West was President of the 4G Business Unit for Sprint Nextel. He previously served as Sprint Nextel’s Chief Technology Officer as well as executive vice president and CTO for Nextel Communications Inc. Mr. West is an industry pioneer who helped deploy the first GSM networks while an executive at British Telecom.
Euler Bropleh is the founder and Managing Director of VestedWorld, a venture capital fund focused on investing in underserved markets around the world, including several markets in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to VestedWorld, he was an attorney with Latham & Watkins and Vedder Price, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital transactions. He is an alumnus of Emory University, University of St. Andrews, and the University of Chicago Law School.
