SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Location: Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the company’s financial reporting accuracy, transparency, and compliance, in line with both OHADA accounting standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on experience with financial reporting, and a proven track record of operating within complex, multi-jurisdictional business environments. The Senior Accountant will also provide leadership in process improvements, internal controls, and support to business operations, including logistics, procurement, and compliance functions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
– Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with OHADA and IFRS.
– Ensure timely and accurate reporting to local management and corporate headquarters.
– Coordinate statutory audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax authorities.
– Monitor changes in local accounting, tax, and compliance regulations, ensuring full adherence.
Accounting Operations
– Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and general ledger reconciliations.
– Manage accruals, provisions, and depreciation schedules with accuracy and completeness.
– Ensure compliance with internal policies, including approval flows and expenditure tracking.
– Support cashflow management, banking relationships, and treasury processes.
Controls & Governance
– Strengthen internal controls across all finance processes to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
– Support group-wide initiatives on transfer pricing, tax compliance, and intercompany transactions.
– Develop documentation for both corporate governance and audit readiness.
Business & Operational Support
– Partner with operations and logistics teams to track inventory, vendor management, and procurement processes.
– Provide financial analysis to support decision-making around cost efficiency, logistics planning, and contract negotiation.
– Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to drive financial performance.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Requirements
– Certification: CPA, ACCA, (Expert-Comparable), or equivalent professional qualification.
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s preferred.
– Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in financial reporting and accounting, ideally in a multinational or regional African context.
– Technical Skills:
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and OHADA accounting standards.
• Strong background in financial statement preparation, audit liaison, and compliance.
• Familiarity with ERP/accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be a plus.
Preferred Skills
– Experience in telecoms, technology, or infrastructure sectors.
– Exposure to logistics, inventory, and supply chain finance.
– Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
– Excellent communication skills in French (mandatory) and English (preferred).
– Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.
