Vanu Bose

Dr. Bose is CEO of Vanu, Inc. Founded in 1998, Vanu, Inc. pioneered the commercialization of software-defined radio and was the first company to receive FCC certification of a software-defined radio in 2004. The company has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Software-Defined Radio Forum Achievement Award, IEEE Spectrum Magazine’s Wireless Winner, and the GSM Association Technology Award for Most Innovative Infrastructure Product. Dr. Bose has been granted the personal distinctions of being named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and a ComputerWorld Honors Program Laureate. Dr. Bose is currently serving as a Commissioner to the UN Broadband Commission for Digital Development, as a member of the Army Science Board, and as a member of the Bernard M. Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership Program Industry Advisory Board. Dr. Bose was a technical expert for the President’s Council of Advisors (PCAST) report: Realizing the full potential of government-held spectrum to spur economic growth. Dr. Bose received his B.S, M.S. and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.


Andy Beard

Andy Beard, Chief Operating Officer

Andy Beard has been an employee of Vanu, Inc. since it began operations. He was associated with the Boston based law firm of Foley, Hoag & Eliot LLP from 1993 until he joined Vanu, Inc. Andy specialized in the firm’s business practice area primarily representing small businesses and investment funds with respect to corporate transactional and securities matters. Andy graduated from the Boston University School of Law in 1993 and from Dartmouth College, with a B.A. in Philosophy, in 1987.


Raymie Stata

Raymie Stata, Board Member

Raymond Paul “Raymie” Stata is currently the founder and CEO of Altiscale, a company that provides Apache Hadoop as a service with “big data in the cloud”. Prior to Altiscale, he was the Chief Technology Officer at Yahoo where he played an instrumental role in algorithmic search, display advertising and cloud computing.  Prior to Yahoo, Ramie founded Stata Laboratories  maker of the Bloomba search-based e-mail client and the SAProxy anti-spam filter. He previously worked for Digital Equiment Corporation’s Systems Research Center, where he contributed to the AltaVista search engine.  He is an alumnus of MIT, where he received bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D degrees in Computer Science and Engineering.


Barry West

Barry West, Board Member

Mr. West was most recently a Strategic Advisor to Clearwire and President of Clearwire International. Prior to joining Clearwire, Mr. West was President of the 4G Business Unit for Sprint Nextel. He previously served as Sprint Nextel’s Chief Technology Officer as well as executive vice president and CTO for Nextel Communications Inc. Mr. West is an industry pioneer who helped deploy the first GSM networks while an executive at British Telecom.
